So I brought my new hedgehog home last night. His name is McCormick and he is an albino 6 weeks old. ( I wish I could post a picture but it keeps saying its invalid) I've left him alone in his cage so far, its been about 6 hours so far and I was planning on leaving him alone for 24 hours but I was wondering if he needed longer then that to adjust?

Some people handle their hedgehogs right away some wait. 24 hrs should be enough to let them get settled into their new cage and then you can handle all you want. If you want to have a regular handling schedule going then it is even better to get that schedule started early so that he can get used to it. Some people say that a regular schedule helps the hedgehog know what to expect and so they are calmer when you take them out.

There's really no reason to leave them alone for the first 24 hours (or first few days, or the various other things along those lines that are sometimes suggested). The sooner you start handling and socializing them, the sooner they get used to you.
