Moving question
My wife and I are moving to a new condo a few blocks away from where we are. The movers are packing us and so on, but we were wondering at what point we should move the hedgies over to the new place. Before the movers start shifting furniture? After? Would it be too stressful for them to have all the chaos and confusion of the packers around?

Re: Moving question
I moved across the country this summer. When I was packing everything up, I put everything that was going to be handled by the movers together in a separate room, away from Norman. It kept him far enough away from all of the noise and foot-traffic as not to disturb him too much and he seemed to be okay with it. When I moved into my new place, he was the first thing I brought in ahead of the movers. I had him tucked away in a hard shell cat carrier with his igloo, fleece, and shirt so it was as familiar as possible, then left the carrier in the bathroom since the movers didn't need to put anything in there. Once they were all done, I put his cage back together, plopped the little guy back in there, then put anything I wanted in the bathroom. It was pretty stress-free for both him and myself.

Re: Moving question
We just moved to a new condo 2 weeks ago. We moved our hedgies last. We let them be until everything else was moved out. Then we put them in carriers and disassembled their cage and packed it up in our car. I wouldn't let movers move them. If you have hand warmers it might be a good idea to use them because it's quite chilly out (not sure where you live). We set their cage up immediately in our new place and put them back into their cages. They've been acting normal and eating, drinking and wheeling fine so I don't think the move affected them much.

* after reading the above post I came to the conclusion that first or last is probably best.

Re: Moving question
I just moved for the third time with the hogs in a year (don't.... ask.)
They always came over last so I could make sure that the electricity was going to be on. :)
