Default First time hedgie owner with a few questions

Hello! I just brought my new baby home yesterday and I couldn't love the little guy more if I tried. I'm just a little nervous as a first timer, thus I've been a bit paranoid since I brought him home. I almost wish I could've had a test run with him for a few days with the breeder right next to me to give me all the answers before bringing him home on my own, you know? xD Anyway though, I just had a few basic questions.

How are they with noise? I always have something on, music, movies, etc. The breeder told me they sleep pretty heavily, but I obviously don't want to keep him up during the day. And what about when they're awake? Will loud noise stress them out or anything?

Also, is it unhealthy/stressful to wake them up while they're sleeping? I obviously don't intend to do this forever, but since I'm all jittery, I keep wanting to make sure he's doing okay, so I've been waking him up for just a few seconds to check up on him.

I know with a new baby hedgie you need to leave it alone to adjust to its surroundings. I would resist the urge to keep checking on the little guy and let him rest. Wake him up in the morning to check him over, clean cage, clean poop boots, etc. and then leave him alone until the evening. If you have a good safe cage setup with proper temperature I'm sure he'll be fine and just needs to be left alone to destress from the move and keep his much needed baby sleep.
I know... they are just so dang cute! I couldn't stop looking at and picking mine up either when I first got her. Save it for play and bonding time in the evening

Noise should be fine, just don't have it up TOO loud. If you're watching a movie while you have him out, if there's a loud explosion or anything like that, that could make him jump a little, but he'll get used to having movies, etc. on if that's how it is whenever you have him out. Sometimes having background music/movies makes them less reactive to little sounds from you, like sniffing or breathing loudly.

It's not terrible to wake them up, but try not to do it too often - they do need their rest. Checking on him morning and evening is usually enough, but if you want to take him out for a daytime cuddle, as long as he's comfortable enough to sleep and you let him do so (and most babies are pretty good at passing out no matter when/where!), it won't hurt anything.

Thanks so much! This is really reassuring because he's slept mostly since I got home and that worried me a little as well, so it's good to know that's normal C:

1)Usually hedgies dont like loud noises but if (when they're young) get used to the noises it may work out.
2)Hedgehogs, when woken up are usually grumpy, so you can check up on it but not to often.

But I have only found this out online so I am not 100% sure. Good luck with your hedgie!
