hey guys, so i just bought a hedgehog at 6 weeks old, and ive had her for less than a week and i think shes already getting sick. Ever since i got her ive noticed shes been scratching herself, not excessively, but shes been scratching. Her quills are fine, none have been dropping and she has no bald spots. However, i accidentally used human body soap to bathe her, and im not too sure if that had caused an allergic reaction, but the side of her face became red the next day, Sort of like red sores. When i first got her, she was curious, playful, and quite active, but now shes so unactive, not curious or playful anymore. She also hides her face towards the corner of the shoebox i put her in, as if she has depression or something
![]() P.S i dont think shes going into hibernation because i live in malaysia, and it never gets cold here. its relatively a warm humid country. Here are some pictures of the red sores on the side of Junior's face https://imgur.com/A6Gpltl https://imgur.com/acaso3E https://imgur.com/dMrpPZF Last edited by jarrodooi; 09-03-2017 at 12:40 PM. Reason: Sorry, i had added pictures of my hedgehogs red sores for further understanding |

That looks like a staph infection on her face, which is fairly common in babies. She's going to need to see a vet for some antibiotics to cure the infection.
Is she eating and drinking ok? |

Shes eating and drinking fine. Today i noticed the scratching got alot more frequent. I have no idea what was wrong with the side of her face, but the redness has gone down and the sores have turned into scabs, which is a sign of healing. Im worried sick. HELP

I have tried to help, she needs to see a vet to find out for sure what it is. It could be a skin infection, it could be mites, it could be a fungal infection it's impossible for us to say what it is and all of those things need to be treated by a vet.
