Default New Hedgie Owner with a couple of questions

Hi All,

So I have had pixie for almost 3 weeks now (She's 13 weeks old) and I keep coming up with different questions....I put another water dish in her bowl today, because in Alberta here we are about to go through a heat wave of high 30s all week anways I was wondering, it's quite a bit bigger and is it possible for a hedgie to drown in their water dish? That may seem like a really dumb question...but I'd rather be safe than sorry. Also what is a good way to keep a hedgie cool in hot weather when air conditioning isn't an option? I have heard putting a piece of tile in her cage so she can lay on it if she gets hot..but what else? If I put a frozen water bottle wrapped in a blanket in there can it be a little dangerous in case she lays agaisnt it and gets to cold?

Hedgehogs can swim, so unless she just dunks her head in there without getting out I dont imagine she'll drown. You can maybe give her some hedgie sized arm floaties The water bottle thing is fine, if she gets too cold she can just move away from it.

Ha! I can just picture her with little floaties on! I was more so worried because its deeper and if she feel straight in while trying to get a drink if she would be Ble to push herself back out cause its not big enough for her whole boys, thanks for letting my know about the water bottle
