Default Clipping Ori's nails

I have tried everything. I've tried holding him a certain way, warm water.. ect. I cannot clip his nails. They are starting to get long and I'm a little worried. The vet I had went to was having problems with it as well. Any advice?

Try just one foot at a time. I think it was ReginasMommy who suggested a very clever method of putting a strip of fleece around the middle of the hog so that both legs become exposed.

Just keep trying every time you give him a foot bath You are bound to be able to do it soon! I managed to clip Po' Boy's nails (who is much grumpier than your hog I promise you) in a bath. I find it's easier when you are patient, and firm in terms of grabbing one of their feet. Also, try making sure the hog knows your hand is coming near them instead of swooping in from overhead.

I can try that. I'm thinking of having someone like the vet helps. He only sits still when I have him in both hands. If I had three hands, it'll be perfect, I've given up for today and he is sleeping in my lap.

Sophie gets a foot bath three times a week, and she gets an inspection each time. Sometimes I take zero clips, and I might take as many as four clips. Even you only get a couple of clips, you'll get them all pretty quickly.

Sophie's gotten much better about being in water. Counter-intuitively, increasing the depth from 1" to 4" helped quite a lot. By bringing the water a lot higher on the side of the sink, she seems fooled into accepting that she needs to stand in the water. She hasn't gotten a full bath yet, but I brush her quills with her toothbrush, and I think she likes that.

She has not gotten as much better with clipping. She does not (like most animals) like having her feet handled. I try very hard not to let her agitation get out of hand. You pretty much have to quit if that happens. And if she forces you to quit, then she learns that that works and long term problems can set in.

I put her back up against my shirt. With one hand I take light hold of a foot with a couple of fingers and gently control her squirming with the heel of the hand. I line up my clips with the other hand. I try to identify the ones that need clipping the most. I think that we are both improving.
