Post how long usually does hegies take to be able to hld

so most of you may know we got our hedgie(little girl) spike tuesday 21 of this month. so we had her a week.she actually was5 weeks that and 4 days when we got her. and now she is 6 weeks. she eats and drinks fine and runs on her wheel. she seems to be hissing and popping a lot. is that normal for a youngster like that?once she is out and we are holding her is ok for a few min.we just gave her ,her first bath today and she did fine but she got al spiked up at first.we are going to be switching her to fleece bedding ,and putting her in a c&c cage with a lid etc. is there anything we can do to help her adjust?

Lots of patience, and just keep handling her for at least 30-60 minutes every day. More is better, especially if she's willing to sleep in a hedgie bag on your lap or something like that. A lot of baby hedgehogs will be grumpy when they come home because of all the changes, and often they're beginning quilling or it's already underway, so of course that exacerbates things. We goes Ares at just over 6 weeks, and he was such a sweetheart for the first few days (and we knew he was already from meeting him twice before), but when quilling kicked in he became a grumpy-huffy-popping terror for weeks. We kept handling him and socializing him, regardless of his mood, and when the quilling started to wear off at around 11-12 weeks, the grumpiness disappeared. So it might take a while, and you'll probably get frustrated, but eventually your baby will come around.

That is definitely younger than usual. But what's done is done. The best you can do is try to bond with her and give her all the love and patience she needs. Keep it up!
