we got our baby today
 
today we got our little girl we named her spike lee. lol. and shes about 6 weeks slat n pepper coloring. lol. we wanna get another one soon. but she is doing great shes eating n drinking. the person that gave her to us gave her food etc.

how long does it take usually for them to clam down like when picking her up her spikes are full out.

It can take quite a while, especially if you just brought her home. What helped me a lot with Felix was holding him in his snuggle bag or wrapped in a fleece blanket so he could hide. I think being less exposed helped him relax quicker. I still do this occasionally when he's being extra grumpy. Have you tried leaving a t-shirt that smells like you in her cage? This can help a hedgehog get used to what you smell like and become more comfortable with you holding them.

thanks you. my breeder (well i think she is ) she gave me hedgehog diet 8in 1brand. but i herd bad things of it.so suggestions could help on her food .

Most experts recommend that you feed a mix of 2 or 3 high quality cat foods. There is a really fantastic thread with a list of different recommended foods that you should definitely take a look at. I'll post the link for you below. Mainly you just want to pick foods that you have regular access to (ie. don't pick a food that your pet store frequently runs out of or doesn't always stock). Also, you want to introduce each food slowly and one at a time to make sure that your hedgie isn't having any adverse effects or allergies.
