Default Would my work schedule be fair to a hedgie?

I would love to have a hedge hog in my home. I've been reading up, planning, reading through these forums obsessively. I even had a dream about hedge hogs last night.

There is one thing holding me back though. Would my work schedule be fair to a hedgehog? I only work 3 days a week but those are 12 hour days. 10am-10pm +10 minutes each for the drive. The schedule tends to be me working 2 twelve hour days in a row, 1 day off, then one 12 hour day. I would have about an hour each night on those 12 hour days with my future hedgie, waking up earlier than I do now is possible as well.

The up side is I just had 5 days with no work.
Would those 3 twelve hour days be unfair in your opinion? There is a 2nd person who could help with hedgie during those days.

Would you be able to make let's say 10:30 pm your normal bonding time. I've had hedgehogs when I was working 24 hour shifts.

Should be fine. You don't need to take out your hedgehog every day, but always do a check for injuries (I usually do this around feeding time when they are out anyway and I can see their behaviour).

Yes I could do that. I get that when you first bring hedgehog home he/she needs privacy for the first while. Will daily interaction while off work when hedgehog is comfortable/happy have to be limited to 10:30PM in the future?

That really is something that needs judged on the individual hedgehog. Some are more flexible about coming out at more random times than others.
The reason I suggested 1030 is your home from work, likely haven't already gone to bed and isn't insanely late. You want to pick a time that works for you just about every day.

I just got my 6 week old hedgie and she's perfect! I read to play with her atleast 30-60 mins a day but I play with her exceeding that by double. She is a little crabby when she wakes up but by the end she's crawling into my hands by herself. Everything seems great just want to be sure over playing with her could be bad?

In my opinion, there is no such thing as over playing :P
The more out-of-cage time and socialization your hedgie gets, the better! (:

Yes it would work for me and would probably be more ideal for a hedgie, too, as I see they are normally more nocturnal. Thanks for the re assurance!
