Default My Hedgies ... ummm my Kids hedgies

Hi

Got our Hedgies on Sunday and they are just so cute had to share my photos.

We have my eldest daughters which is Faith and she is very tiny but doesn't sit still once you get her out her ball. So far she is to small to make her wheel move so may get her a small one in the interim until she can actually move the proper one, any thoughts on this?

My youngest daughters is Oz, he is so far very grumpy and very very prickly. My youngest is a little nervous of him cause he is always going up in a ball when we go near him and jumping when we touch him. I am hoping it is just cause it is a new environment and he is still just nervous himself.

They don't seem to be eating much but as per my other thread it was suggested I find out what the pet store fed them and change back to that so I will sort that out today.

As for water, geee don't know they have a bowl but I cant tell if they are drinking it or not. We did get faith to drink some last night when we held it under her nose but whether they are doing it on their own I couldn't really tell. Are they suppose to drink allot of water, noticeably allot?

I think it is 8 weeks.
Also curious they where housed together and the one is a boy is it possible that they mated at such a young age.
We have separated them

Ouch. They should be able to use the wheel, I got Ichiro at 6 weeks and he was running like a mad hedgie 2 days after he discovered the wheel.

You need to read the stickies regarding breeding, babies and emergency babies and treat her like she is pregnant until 55 days from the last day they were together have passed. And hopefully she's not pregnant

I think Faith was the runt of the litter, she is very small. She stands on the wheel and tries to walk but nothing happens.Ours are very big wheels but they do work fine as Oz has gone on his wheel and it is fine, he hasn't gone mad on it but he has had a little jog on it now and then. They never had wheels at the pet store

Have you "show" her how to use it? She tries and can't or she just stays there? Maybe she needs some encouragement.

Btw, I love your title... But they are your hedgies. Lol. My daughter wanted a pet so I look for one I'd like because kids forget about them or etty soon and we moms have to care for them.

I will give it another try with her tonight, we have tried moving it slightly while she is on it she just slides *giggle* . I didn't notice her trying to walk but my eldest told me she did maybe she is wrong.I

My kids are pretty good with pets but yes my husband and I know that we will be doing most of the work. Its a great novelty now but soon it will be a bit of a pain for them to make sure they play with them EVERY day, so yes between 4 of us they will have their bonding time

Thanks for all the help

There is a very good chance she is pregnant. You'll have to wait 55 days from when she was last with the male to see if she has babies. Please make sure your daughters know that they can never be in contact with each other even when supervised.
