I need advice

I know I have not been on a lot and I am sorry, life got really chaotic. Life has calmed down some now I will work on being here more. But right now I need some advice and I am not sure where to post this. Please move it if you need to.

Some of you might remember I adopted 2 rescued Hedgies an albino male and a dark colored female. They both have been doing fine until today the male has been squeaking off and on all day and has not eaten. I checked his cage and found nothing that would hurt him and I checked him over the best I could with him not wanting to unball.

I give him food everyday and normally as soon as the food hits his bowl he eats every bit, he is a little piggie. Each hedgie gets a spoon of food everyday. Well I went to check food this morning my male didn't eat and that's not like him. I am really worried about him.

Could someone help me?

I think it sounds like the poor guy needs to go to the vet. Not eating can be fatal pretty quickly with hedgehogs. If he doesn't eat tonight you'll want to start syringe feeding him, which is going to suck if he won't unball.

If you take him to the vet they can sedate him and do an x-ray to see what's going on inside, just in case it's a growth or something.

He hasn't uncurled for me for over a week, I have been trying to trim his nails. I thought he was stressed about that but even stressed he ate. And he just stopped eating and only has been squeaking today.

Hopefully it's just something simple. It's definitely possible that he's been cranky because he hasn't been feeling well. Is he still drinking?

If you take him to the vet have them check his mouth too. Something could be uncomfortable in there.

Sorry I'm late replying, I had to pick my dog up from surgery. It's just one of those days I think. Sending you good wishes at the vet and hoping it's nothing major for the little man!

The checked him over mouth was fine no lumps are bumps that should not be there. Everything in his belly felt fine. The only thing wrong was his nails were too long. They gave him an antibiotic shot and some oral antibiotics to give him to see if that helps

Hello, you could try putting something really enticing to him in the cage to get him to eat until he starts eating regularly again. canned pumpkin, a safe fruit you think he would like, veggies. Hope he gets better

He ate a little bit of his food last night, and drank water but has not left his hut/fake half log. He still cries out sometimes, it breaks my heart to hear that. I hope the antibiotics help they said give it a couple days to see if it helps.

He took his meds this morning with out a fight. He is moving around a bit today but the quills will not relax yet
