Was the baby born at your place or did you get them at a breeder? Reason I ask is most breeders won't let them go to knew homes until 6 weeks at the minimum. Not playing with toys sounds like a lot of hedgies, some never really like playing with toys. It's great that she is wheeling, for a lot of hedgies that is their most prized possession

It sounds like you probably just got him, with as young as he is. He might still be settling in to his new home, so give him some time. It can take weeks or months for hedgehogs to fully settle into their new home, their new owner, and a new routine. Some hedgehogs never play with toys though, it just depends on their personality. That's great you have a wheel though! That's almost always a must-have for hedgehogs, with as much as they like to run.
For treats, if you just got him, go slowly, and keep trying. It may take offering something many times before he'll try it. Sometimes if you cut a mealworm in half and kind of squeeze the guts out a bit (I know, ewww) it can catch their interest. Or you can try leaving them in a bowl in his cage overnight to see if that'll get him to try them. With crickets, I find it works great to buy them live, then freeze them. I get a few out every night and let them thaw for a minute or two, then hide them in Lily's cage. She loves to sniff them out (though she knows all of my hiding places by now) and it gets her moving around her cage more. Welcome to HHC and good luck with your new little one. I'd highly suggest taking a look around the forums, if you'd like. There's lots of great info on here! ![]()
