It will take a while for him to warm up to new surroundings. I have also found from reading threads and from my own experience that hedgies from petstores take a longer while to warm up to people.. I have had chloe since april 25th and she is still timid and not very touchable when out of her cage.. So take your time, spend lots of time with ur hedgie and everything should be fine.

From what I've read around here, you kinda want to leave your new hedgie alone for a day or two, making sure he has fresh water and food, but don't mess with him too much. He needs time to acclimate and get comfortable for his new surroundings.

Have you also made sure he is getting 12 to 14 hours of light a day? And do you have a thermostat on the heating lamp to make sure it turns on when it's needed and doesn't get too hot for hedgie? Also, what kind of heating lamp is it? Is it a ceramic heat emitter (CHE)?

What does "I'm sure he's healthy cause I switched out the other on we got" mean?

Babies sleep a lot so it sounds normal if your hedgie is still little and young.

What is the temperature? Do you have a thermostat to regulate the heat so it doesn't get too hot or cold?

Make sure he is eating he may take some time to get used to his new home its okay to handle him after about 24 hours since coming home. Just remember he is a prey animal and reacts in fear and defense to the unknown or any threat and needs time to see he isn't in danger.
