I've never seen my hedgies anoint

This might be a weird question, but is it normal that I've never seen my hedgies annoint? I've had my two girls (both adults) since early this past summer. I'm still a little new to hedgehogs, as these are rescues and kind of unexpectedly fell in my lap. I've been learning all I can, and i read about other hedgies anointing, and I realized I've never seen these two do it in the almost 6 months I've had them! The one will lick or nip my fingers if there is any kind of food smell on them, but we don't really encourage the nipping and I usually wash my hands if she does.

Anyway, they seem healthy and happy otherwise, but I just thought it might be odd! How often do hedgies anoint anyway?

Some hedgies will annoint to everything, some never do. Lily only ever annointed a couple times, but my new girl Bindi has already annointed 4 or 5 times in front of me (visiting at her current house) and many more times besides. It just depends on the hedgie!

Thank you! Glad to know its normal. I wonder if I'll ever see them do it! I guess YouTube will have to suffice. It just looks so funny- I can only imagine it'd be funnier in person, haha.

My hedgehog has only ever annointed to beef liver treats. Even some other very smelly distinct treats won't set it off. He just likes smelling like beef liver, I guess.

With some I think it's when they find a certain thing they really like.
