Unhappy Cherping noise?

Hi everyone.
I've had Stitch for a little over two weeks. Hes my first hedgie. Progress has been okay with him and I. Anyways, whenever I pick him up, he will make this baby bird kind of sound when he's in my hands and he always sticks his nose inbetween my fingers kinda like if he wants back in his cage.. I just want to know if thats a normal sound and what it means. Thank you!

Chirping is a normal sound and is usually made when they're happy. As far as wrigling through your fingers goes, some just like to really squeeze into places for no reason other than to squeeze through something. My little guy loves to do this. They're a little nutty.

Don't worry; it's a happy sound. I guess you may compare it to a cat purring in content. I guess he just bonded with you quickly

Thank you for the advice. I'm a new hedgie mommy, and I'm trying so hard to do everything right. He does like small spaces Stitch, tonight he was between his cage wall and his tube sleeping. He looked cute. thank you very much again

A few hours after I posted this, I was reading some old posts and someone else had the same question, so I felt silly afterwards, Thank you though. Put my mind at ease. Your Delia is SOOO cute by the way. Melts my heart!

Thank you! <3 She melts mine, too!

And it's okay, I've asked things myself that I found the answer to later. We have an archive of information, true, but that shouldn't stop you from asking something if you can't find the answer quickly. We're truly here to help.
