Default litter box

hey hedgie owners

im pritty new at this but i couldnt ask for a better hedgehog, he has easily picked up using a litter box.

only issue is he is messy, he digs and pushes his cat litter all over his cage, and gets it all over himself every night, meaning more baths and more laundry( for the liners). Is there a substatute i can use for cat litter in his litter box that might be easier to clean and wont stick to him?

thanks

You could try a paper towel, that's what I have to use for my Gambit he's very messy and will try to eat the litter as well.

If your using clumping cat litter I believe that should not be used as it sticks to a hedgie, I know what you mean my girl Feral loves to dig

I would take LarryT's suggestion

I would try a paper towel or a heavier pelleted litter such as Yesterday's News or Purr and Simple.

Clumping or clay type litter should not be used because it can block a hedgies digestive tract if eaten. Also alot of clumping litter is dusty, which is bad for their little lungs. Alot of people suggest Yesterdays news or simple paper towels.

I'm not sure that he wouldn't fling it, but Yesterday's News cat litter is very popular. Delia uses it. She occasionally flings, and it's easy to clean up, and doesn't stick to her at all.
