Default Weird smell!

So after my post about the hives from Priscilla, I gathered up all my willpower and gave her a bath.

She had a blast, of course.

Anyway, it's a few hours later, after drying off abd a nap. Now she smells....sour. Kinda like laundry left in the washer too long.

I used baby shampoo and then followed with an aveeno oatmeal bath

Any ideas?

I bathed Rosie at the same time, and she smells fine.

....how does her skin look? If there's a weird smell, I wonder if there's some skin condition going on. You may want to schedule a vet appointment. You may need to get a skin scrap done and see if there's a fungal or bacterial infection.

Skin looks normal. A little dry, but she just had a bath. A little less smelly now, but still the soured laundry/milk funk

A weird smell still concerns me. You bathed your other hedgie with the same stuff, right? And she smells normal?

Honestly, even if there's nothing wrong, it wouldn't hurt just to go to the vet for a wellness check. You only just got her pretty recently, right? I'm sorry, I don't remember off hand when you said you got her. But unless someone with experience in with something like this has some wisdom to share, I think that might be the route to go.

Alba had a weird smell (I thought she smelled a bit like baby sick, so it may be the same sour smell you're getting) that got much stronger after a bath. She had a skin scraping at the vet and it turned out she had a skin yeast infection.

If you can get hoglet to a vet then I would. The treatment she gave me was a spray twice a day for a few days, it was very easy to use.

It is only when she is wet. Once she is fully dry, the smell goes away.

Yes, other hog was bathed exactly the same way.

I think I may just have to break down and do a vet visit. It will just totally suck if nothing is wrong.

And it would be great to KNOW that nothing is wrong. Without a vet visit, your only guessing.
