Default Scared or normal??

I recently got a hedgie and have been trying to hold him every day since I got him. I usually wait until late at night when he gets up on his own. When I hold him or put him down all he wants to do is get away. He is constantly trying to climb off of me and run away. Is that him just being scared or is that normal for a 2 month old?

I just want him to be calm and relax in my hands lol

It could be that he is a little stressed still from the transition to a new home and this is his reaction to that, it could be that he is young and has a ton of energy to burn, or it could just be his personality. It can be hard to judge which one it could be. But seeing that he is new to you, I'm betting its a little of all three.

Be patient with him, continue to spend lots of time with you. He may settle down later and relax and snuggle with you. But don't be disappointed if he is always an explorer. Some are like that.

One thought though, during his out time, do you have a snuggle bag or a blanket for him to hide under. Some feel the need to hide when they are out of their cages and can get rather frantic when they are exposed. I had one girl who was a very relaxed girl, and loved belly rubs, but only if she was hiding under a blanket or in a bag. Expose her to the scary world and she was frantic, and would run until she could find a safe place.

Yes I do have a little snuggle bag. I'll try using that more. Thanks!
