I have been reading up on information about hedgies quilling. What does it mean? and When does it usually happen?

Default Re: Quilling

There are a LOT of threads here about quilling.

Quilling is a process similar to humans losing baby teeth. We have one set of teeth when we are small, then grow in a new, adult set. That's what quilling is - "baby quills" being replaced by adult quills.

Generally it happens at 6, 8 and 12 weeks. Some hedgies quill around a year, too, but I haven't heard a whole lot about that, just that it has happened before.

My hedgie Mildred came home with me when she was 7 weeks. She wasn't quilling then, but when the 8 week quilling started, it lasted almost all the way through the 12 week old mark. Some hedgies are lucky and get it done and over with quickly, others have go through the process more slowly.

Harvey just turned 6 months and finished quilling......I think. Thank goodness. He was a royal grump. He seems to be doing better. Just like kids, they develop at their own pace.
