Default Bonding with my hedgehog while I have a cold

I'm currently dealing with a head cold and I was just wondering if you guys think I should avoid holding my hedgehog until the cold runs its course. I don't want to get little Lucy sick but I also want to keep working on bonding with her.

My brain is a little fuzzy at the moment but I don't remember reading anything about interacting with hedgies when one is sick when I was doing research.

Sorry if this doesn't make a lot of sense, the brain fog is strong today.

My general rule is it depends on how sick I am.
If I should be in the hospital, then no we aren't bonding for safety purposes. I am stubborn and do go to the hospital for pretty much anything.
If I can't safely handle them, no.
If it's something like a simple cold, proper hand washing and possibly modified playtime. We hang in the hedgehog fort. I make sure they don't have access to any gunk from me, mucus or tissues or anything like that.

Here we have kids in 3 different school districts, husband works with a couple others as well as working in his office. Lots of people in and out with their germs. Plus we both were in college, so we had a constant influx of germs. There was one winter that I either had the flu or a cold the entire time.

Most diseases aren't zoonotic in nature. It would be very difficult to transmit a human disease to a hedgehog and vice versa, unless it was a parasite.

Thanks for the feedback! It put me at ease to hear what you had to say. Made me a less anxious hedgie handler this past week.
