Default I have come to the conclusion male hedgies are gross

My rescued male hedgie Casper is the grosses little guy he poops and pees everywhere in his cage. In his bed,in the middle of the cage, on the wheel which I know is normal. I use fleece liners which is washable so him popping and peeing on it is now a huge deal. What bothers more is he will dump his food dish walks in the dish with poopy feet the. Eats the food off the liner where I know he messed. I have no idea how to stop him from dumping his bowl.

Lol! Well to start the mess likely has more to do with your hedgies personality than his gender (I have two males, one of which who is VERY neat). Now, onto the problems. Do you have a litter box established for your pal? If so what kind of litter are you using? Play around with the litter types and you might find something he will use. Second key into where he's pooping. Is it everywhere in general or concentrated in a certain area. Put the litter box in that area and place his sleeping and eating area across from it. As for his food and water, try getting a shallower setup such as the cat food dishes that have two sides and are really low to the ground? They're oval shaped? It's so flat and broad it's pretty hard to tilt. How old is your little piggy by the way? If he's young, he might get better with age as he gets more control over himself. Hope you see some improvement!

Yes I have a littler pan under his wheel I use aspen bedding as litter for all my hedgies and there is so mess in there. He poops and pees where ever he wants including his bed which is gross. His litter pan and wheel is at one end and the food water and his hides hut is at the other end it does not seem to help. He has a small cat food bowl I was going to try the large bowl that my first hedgie used which was a ferret bowl ( it looks like a big hamster bowl). I was told he is about 1.5 years old. He is also blind in one eye( if you looke at my photo gallery on here he is the albino).

Oh wow! He's a messy little guy! My youngest male ALWAYS poops in the litter box. Since the day I got him he's just the neatest little guy. Never makes a mess! Maybe you should try either half fleece half bedding in the cage where one side is bedding and the other is fleece?
