Default Allergic[ish]?

So, I have had my Sonny for about a week ish now, and we're doing great bonding wise!
But the thing is, the last 3 nights or so I have not been able to sleep because I have had problems breathing. Now, this could totally be completely irrelevant to my hedgie and it could be something else, I just find it ironic it pops up soon as I get a Hedgehog. I've looked it up and nobody has had any reaction like this before, and I have never been allergic to anything. But I just think this is pretty weird.
Like I said, it is probably something not to do with Sonny, but it came up as soon as he moved in with me.
Any ideas what it could be?

It's certainly possible to be allergic to your hedgie, but first rule out things that came along with your hedgie. For instance, what bedding is Sonny using? Wood chips/shavings used as bedding can definitely cause breathing problems. And is it just breathing that's an issue (not to downplay the seriousness of asthmatic reactions by any means)? How does your skin look and feel after you've touched him? Do you get watery eyes too?

Allergy's to hedgehogs are quite common and often in people who are not allergic to any other animals. I've gotten in a few re-homes that were given up because the owners became allergic.

What bedding do you have him on? If shavings or any type, Carefresh or any type of loose bedding, switch him to liners. Often the allergic reaction is to the bedding and not the hedgehog. Once you have switched, give him a bath to get any particles of the bedding off him.

Is he in your room? If so, move him to another location. Sometimes people are allergic to the urine and baby urine is particularly strong. Keeping him out of your room should lessen the reaction if it is caused by him.

I don't use loose bedding, I have 4 layers of fleece as his bedding [2 pairs, so I can switch them out when I wash, just simpler for me]
And yes, he lives in my room. Ever since he moved into there, I can't sleep at night because breathing is difficult.
But handling him is fine. I don't get any reaction out of him when I am holding him at all.
I am sleeping in an other room tonight to see if him being in there with me is the problem. If that's the case, we will just move him into an other room instead of mine.

I slept in an other room for two nights, and I could breathe so much better. We decided to move him to my parent's room instead because I think he is the reason why I couldn't breathe at night. Every other time I play with him is fine though, so this situation makes no sense. But whatever will work for both our health's we'll do.
