Default Dry, flaky skin

My hedgehog has super dry skin, and it's just flaking off and making a ton of his quills fall out. When I was putting some flax seed oil on his back a couple of weeks ago, I put too much, and just drenched most of his back by accident. So the top part of him has orange flaky skin due to the flax seed oil, and I put flax seed oil on his food every other day (just a couple of drops), and it doesn't seem to be helping. Is there anyway that I can get rid of his dry skin? I feel bad for the little guy, and the number of quills he's losing is worrying me.

Is it mites, or are you sure it's dry skin?

He had mites, but I'm pretty sure they're gone as of 2.5 weeks ago. He isn't scratching, and he's quite active now.
