Deer Park,TX Vet
I found a vet I took my Luna to that is in Deer Park. He was very good with her and seemed to know quite a bit about hedgies. Prices were very reasonable, both the facilities and staff were nice. Nice to know there is a vet close to me that I can trust to take her to. I live in Pasadena,TX.

Please post good vets you have been to. Name the vet clinic as well as the name of the veterinarian you saw as sometimes a vet clinic can have both good and bad vets. Put the city as the subject line.
This is a information thread only. To keep this easy to follow for people in search of a vet all chat or questions will be removed. Please only post if you have a vet recommendation.

Vet is in Plano, Texas
I took Prim and Ivy to see Dr. Whetstone for a wellness visit. She was very sweet and handled both girls very well. She is willing to listen to my opinions and the research I have done, as well as consult with other vets if she isn't sure on a course of treatment. I really liked her, and she has a couple of partners that, I believe, see hedgehogs as well although I did not speak to them.

I have been taking my pets (dogs, cats, ferrets) to Plano Bird & Animal Clinic for quite a few years now. I love Dr. Whetstone - I was just about to call there to see if she worked with hedgehogs since I just got mine last night. Good to hear she does! =)

My vet for Bruce is in Rowlett!
Animal Hospital of Rowlett
The staff is so wonderful and they have a dog and cat enterance so that I can bring Bruce through the cat side so he doesn't have to be with the dogs!

Just took Dean to his first check up today. Dr. Moore treats various exotic pets and he's very knowledgeable about hedgies! He went through a bunch of stuff with me to make sure I knew them, and everything was stuff I read on my research. I definitely recommend him! He was very nice and I think he knows his stuff. He also told me I could call the clinic anytime to ask him anything and save myself a trip. Super nice.
NOTE: He said he uses ivermectin to treat mites infestations, but he assures me he calculates the right doses and he's never had a hedgehog die from it. He says he thinks what happens is veterinarians who know nothing about hedgies don't calculate the dose correctly. Dean doesn't have mites, but I thought I'd ask. Just putting this out there.

We take Echo to Southridge Animal Hospital in Denton. He's one of the few experienced hedgehog vets in the area. He does recommend to never do nail trimmings yourself, and to take your hedgehog to him for nail trimmings, though. We are going to see him again soon, and I'll ask him personally about mite treatment (my mom took him the first time since I had finals, and she asked the receptionist who didn't exactly know). She did say that she had a good first impression.

I actually work at a vet that deals with exotic animals; they're the reason I became a hedgie mom. My boy was an owner surrender (I was told the previous owner didn't want to pay for mite treatment, so he would've been euthanized). So, of course, I couldn't let that happen, even though before him I'd never seen a hedgie in person, haha. Anyways, all the doctors are fantastic, but Dr. Roset and Dr. Michalec are usually the ones that see my hedgie.
Also, ABC does exotic boarding!

They have a pager to take exotic emergencies (281-630-7033) from 7-10 pm Monday through Friday, and 5-10pm on Saturday and Sunday. Any time after that, and Gulf Coast Exotic Emergency (713-693-1133) can handle emergencies.
