Talking Proud hedgie Mom

I took my baby hedgie, 5 mo, to Florida with me (on a plane from Michigan). I have been getting him accustomed to traveling by taking him to work with me, I also use him as an educator; I work at a nature preserve and go out to schools to do activities and sometime bring him to demonstrate animal adaptations.
Anyway, he did ok in the car to the airport and the plane and the shuttle van to my parents. it was a super long day for us both, but it didnt seem to phase him. I brought the hand warmers that react to oxygen to keep him warm and and snapware container (drilled holes around) that fit under the seat. The pilot even came out to meet him. It was very cool.
He stayed in a large tote at my parents. He was not fond of it. I thinked he missed all his things and the good wheel (not the cheapo one my mom bought him). He was a Christmas hit in the neighborhood too.
Great on the way back too. Just had to brag! Love my little Aquilles!

You were able to bring him in the cabin with you? What airline? People ask that a lot in here since. It's carriers don't allow it.

I wa son the phone with Spirit off and on for 4 days, maybe 6 hours total to get permission. Also had my doctor write me a "emotional companion" thing for my travel anxiety. Not a lie, I have terrible anxiety, though traveling with a hedgehog is irrelevant to it. the Second airline was American....and I sort of didnt tell them. I just had him in the carrier and no one asked.

Thanks for the info, it's very helpful since there are always questions. I'm glad you were able to do so.
